Final Pitch

Stephanie and I began to brainstorm our pitches. In the beginning of the year, we already had an idea of what we wanted to do for our movie project. We wanted to do a plot that involved spies. We came up with a plot for the idea but in the end, we rejected it. We devised other plot ideas such as a person getting super powers and people trying to end each other. We picked three of our favorite plots and created pitches for them. Stephanie and I have narrowed our pitches down to two choices. Our first pitch is, "In a perfect society, everyone gets a dot on their wrist on their 16th birthday. Green you live, red you die." Our second pitch is, "Two girls are trying to escape their kidnapper of three months, but there's something the other girl doesn't know."

When deciding which pitch we would be using, Stephanie and I thought about the good and bad things about each one. We started with the kidnapper pitch. Many of our classmates are taking the murder route for their movies. While the kidnapper vibe shares the thriller genre as everyone else's projects, we felt it was unique because it has a twist at the end. We wanted one of the kidnapped girls to actually be working with the kidnapper and when the two girls try to escape, the deceitful girl kills the other girl. Stephanie asked where would this movie be filmed. This is when we realized there was a flaw in our pitch. We planned for our 2 minute introduction to be filmed at a place that looked abandoned or ominous looking place. Neither of us knew a place that fit that description.

Next we moved onto our perfect society pitch. We loved that the plot of the pitch wasn't taking the eerie, dark thriller path many other people are taking. We want our main character to get a red dot on their hand but try to escape their fate by attacking the people that're going to kill her. I liked that the dot-on-hand ordeal reminded me of stories I read where people live in a Utopian society but someone goes against the status quo. One fault in our pitch is that our video could possibly end up looking like a trailer or short film. For our final pitch, we choose the utopia one. We found it to be more convenient for filming and has a more interesting plot.
